Fundraising Event Hosted by The Diabetes Centre Australia for the Hospital on Wheels Project in Canberra

On the 30th of September 2023, The Diabetes Centre (TDC) Australia organized a fundraising event. The event took place at Taj Agra Restaurant, located on Luxon Street in Belconnen, Australia. The primary objective of this event was to raise funds for the launch of “Hospital on Wheels (HOW),” a mobile facility designed for diagnosing and treating diabetes. It’s worth noting that the Hospital on Wheels will provide its services to areas with limited medical facilities and transportation options. The event also aimed to highlight the significant role of technology and innovation in achieving organizational goals and fostering community growth.

Muhammad Ali served as the event’s moderator, and the chief guest was H.E. Mr. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, the Pakistan High Commissioner for Australia. The ceremony commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran. Shafqat Ali invited Shahzeen Ali to express gratitude on behalf of the country at the beginning of the event. Muhammad Ali delivered a poignant speech, focusing on Dr. Ahmed Khan’s philanthropic efforts and shedding light on the global impact of diabetes.

In recognition of the generous sponsors, Dr. Asrar Khan was invited to the stage, where he expressed appreciation for their kind support of the noble cause of combating diabetes. Following this, a message from the Chairman of TDC, Dr. Asjad Hameed, was broadcasted, wherein he acknowledged TDC’s remarkable service to the people of Pakistan. He also extended special thanks to the silver, platinum, and gold sponsors. Murad Khan, Chairman of TDC UK, and Faisal Fayaz, President of TDC USA, participated in the event through video messages, lending their voices to encourage donations for the Hospital on Wheels (HOW). Distinguished guests in attendance also shared their thoughts on the significant effort to combat diabetes.

Dr. Asrar Khan, President of TDC Australia, provided an overview of TDC Australia’s achievements, missions, treatment procedures, and future prospects. Dr. Ahmed Khan introduced the audience to the concept of the Hospital on Wheels (HOW). H.E. Mr. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri discussed the philanthropic contributions of the Pakistani Diaspora to noble causes. Simultaneously, a general call was made to participants to reach out to their family members and friends for charitable donations. Moazzam Shah praised TDC’s achievements, recognizing it as an outstanding organization committed to saving lives worldwide. Sheikh Muhammad Fawzy emphasized the importance of Zakat and charity in Islam, highlighting that charity can mitigate the displeasure of Allah.

Shafaqat Ali’s dedicated volunteer services were notable, especially in event management. At this point, a “Open Heart” donation session was initiated, during which generous participants made philanthropic donations, totaling AUD 105,000. Dr. Asrar Khan pledged to allocate every dollar raised during the event for the betterment of underprivileged patients while addressing the guests’ inquiries. Certificates were distributed among distinguished guests, sponsors, volunteers, and participants. Meanwhile, participants and guests were treated to a delectable meal. In closing, the TDC team expressed their gratitude to all the participants.
